Hard to Have Faith

Happy weekend!

I have yet to have talked about trust, so today I want to discuss it. Especially since this blog is called Trust Jesus.

Trust is such an odd thing, because we use it in the weirdest way. In the fact that our trust is easily placed in things of this world, but as soon as it comes to God, we become unsure. We aren’t sure that He’s real or we aren’t sure that He can control everything. Whatever it is that we struggle to have faith for when it comes to Him, is what we are taking from God because we show Him that we want to trust the world when it comes to some things.

We trust cars to keep us safe, yet there are so many deaths by car crashes. We trust the people around us that are driving, to be focused on the road, yet there are so many distractions.

The amount of faith we have in things being just like normal is ludicrous. We can’t even know if we will have our next breath and yet we wander around wasting time on YouTube and talking about fun things.

We don’t even think about the possibility of not being able to get air into our lungs or the possibility of our heart stopping. It seems insane to us to even think about the idea of this happening.

Our days are numbered, so we need to stop trusting in the idea that tomorrow we can forgive somebody, tomorrow we can say we are sorry, or that next year we can go on a missionary trip. We cannot know that we will be alive this time next year. We don’t know that anything is guaranteed.

I want to live my life for God because of this fact and I think it should be easier to trust God to exist and that He has a plan, than it is to believe that I will feel better tomorrow.

We trust in our bodies, but we don’t trust that God is real. Shouldn’t it be easier to believe in God than to believe that you will have another moment on earth.

We have become more trusting in ourselves and things of this world than in Christ, which is sad. If we don’t trust in Christ then we will be disappointed. I’m not saying that by trusting in Christ we will never be disappointed, but we will never be disappointed the way we would if we put our faith in money, or power, or even a person.

Trusting God should be second nature, because believing that our world around us could happen by chance is like believing that Superman exists.

Tobymac put it perfectly in his song “Undeniable”. He says, “Which is harder to believe that You don’t exist / Or that you orchestrated all of this”.

Our trust must be centered on Him, because when we believe in the things around us, we are becoming part of the world. In Christ alone, I trust because He is over and above all things. He is the one in ultimate control of everything.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the air that is in our lungs. Thank You for every moment that we get to spend on this earth. You have blessed us with so much more than we deserve.

Please help us to live for You the rest of today and this week. Please help us to forgive and grow in our faith.

Thank You for more than we could ever deserve. In Your name, Amen.
