Not So Mundane

Happy weekend!

I think we sometimes forget what life is for. We get so caught up in doing that the reason for these things is completely lost on us.

I’ve found myself caught up in the mundane of life, doing everything because I ‘need to’ or ‘want to’, but why am I doing these things? I’m constantly thinking that I ‘need to’ do things, but then I never think about why. I just get things over with.

This thinking of just finishing things because I’m supposed to, is a battle. I’ve found people that lack passion are those that forget why they do what they do.

I know that my constant battle to just finish things so I can move onto what’s next, has caused me to feel drained, and to miss the beautiful things that I get to experience.

So why do we do the things we do? A lot of the time it doesn’t seem like it’s done for God, but it should be. We should be doing everything for Him; from brushing your teeth to singing along with the radio.

Every moment is His, so no matter what we need to be considering this in how we act. We need to be celebrating the fact that we are alive and that He has given us what He has declared that we need.

God is in control of our lives, and that is amazing. God deserves all the glory, which is why we should be living for Him.

He is our why, He is the reason for everything. That means every little thing we do should bring Him glory. I want every moment to be for Him. I want every action to be for Him.

I know it doesn't seem like much to care about why you did the things you did today, but it's important to do this. If your actions aren't for God, then it means nothing.

God knows our thoughts, therefore our reasoning is important. Our reasoning displays where our heart is at, and therefore is all the more important to God and should be to us.

I don’t want to live life with only moments where I can say that the reasoning for my actions were for Him, but instead every second needs to fall under this category. As soon as I committed to Christ, not only did my actions need to change, but also my heart. Without the change of heart, I’m a fake.

We need to stop choosing the outward change over the inward change. Nothing you do will be genuine if you decide to skip the inward change.

The reasoning behind each action is just as important as the action, if not more. We are living, we are on this earth, so let’s act for His glory; let’s please Him. He has a purpose for us to be here, so let’s start acting in a way that acknowledges that and consider each moment to be for God.

I know it’s hard to see it as important to God that we do the dishes with a smile, but He has a reason for it, He may just want you to be the reason that there is less stress on someone. No matter what we do it is purposeful and we need to treat it as such, in respect for God’s plan.

Remember the why in order to fuel our actions and to do as He would have us.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for each moment. Thank You for our unique personalities and circumstances. Thank You for getting to do every little thing that we get to do. Thank You for the love You have for us.

Lord, please guide us in how we act, but also in why we act. Please help us to consider each thing we do, so that it isn't for anything but You. You are the one that deserves all the glory. Please help us to think about why we choose to do what we do.

Thank You for Your help and guidance, each and every day. In Your name, Amen.
