Storms and Blessings

Happy Weekend!!

I think the reason that we compare our earthly battles to a storm is because we subconsciously realize that we don’t just lose things when we face a battle, but we also gain things. Though the sun may be out of sight, we have gained the rain. The many little drops that create the storm have been given to us, but when the storm comes down in the form of raindrops, we often don’t see the big picture, that we have been blessed with many tiny things, not just the beauty of the lightning as a picture and the rolling thunder as a soundtrack. We need to remember that God made storms to give us water in many small pieces; just as He blesses us in many small pieces. We also must remember that storms come in many shapes and sizes. We have the tsunami where the storm and the big blessing come all at once, leaving us to build anew. We have the thunderstorm in which we get to experience having the blessings fall down in a steady stream, but having to feel the storm around us. The snowstorm in which peace and new growth are brought. A hurricane in which the blessings and the storm blur together, so you can’t distinguish, until after all is settled, what is blessing and what is storm. The tornado in which we repeat our mistakes and we have to fight to get out of the cycle. The sandstorm and the avalanche in which we get caught up in what this world has to offer and it takes a storm for us to remember Him. And many other types of storms, but whatever storm we face, let us remember that He gave us this life and that everything we face and are blessed with comes from Him so let us not focus on the waves, but on Jesus who is standing right in front of us, if we would just look to Him. If we just look we could feel His presence, if we would just look we would stop sinking, if we would just look we would stop having to battle and would get to rest in His arms.

We can face the battle of today because He is with us and we can face the battle of tomorrow because He will still be with us and we faced the battle of yesterday because He was with us. The struggle that we face is not the thing you should be looking at. You should be looking at Jesus. Don't look down at the waves, because that is what will make you drown. Look up at your Savior who has been there and will always be there. He was there before you faced the waves, He will be there after you face the waves and He is there when you face the waves. The Lord has so much more for you, so don't worry about what the waves are throwing at you right now.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for being our peace in the middle of a storm. You restore us throughout the battle and after the battle, when all we seem to be left with is the wreckage. Let us acknowledge that You have blessed us, even when it doesn’t seems like we are being blessed. Lord please help us to look past the storm and look to You. We need to keep ourselves focused on You because You are the only one who truly matters and You will get us out of this storm. Thank You for another wonderful week to be alive and breathing. Lord, please help us with our inner battles and our outer battles. Thank You for giving us a a place to run to when the storm seems too much. Thank You for Your sacrifice that has given all of us a reason to live. Lord, thank You for the many blessings You have bestowed upon us and thank You for the love I get to experience from You. Amen!
