The Best Identity

Happy weekend! It’s officially August!
Knowing our value is something that is a hard struggle for lots of people. We try to earn other people’s respect, and try to define ourselves in who we are or what we have done. We search for a way to show that we are valuable and worth something.
I see a lot of people struggle to define themselves. They think that they can declare their worth. The problem is those things that they use aren’t who they are. Our worth can’t be measured by things of this world. Only God can define us. He is the creator, and therefore only He should be able to give us our identity.
There are two people that can look at your heart, you and God. The only one who can really define us is the latter. He can see past what we can’t. We will always get stuck on the fact we made a simple mistake way back when, or may it was a big one, but He can see our intentions.
There’s a reason why He’s the judge, it’s because He can truly see us for who we are. There is no bias in His judgment. Since He can give an unclouded judgment, He can define us. He can whittle us down to our core and tell us who we are.
More than that though, is the fact that at our core should be a reflection of Him. We are defined in Him, because we reflect Him.
We can find identity in Him because God gave up His Son. Only Son. For our sinful lives.
He bled for us.
He was beaten and scarred for us, blood was dripping from His wounds.
He declared that we were worth it, as a group and as individuals. If it was just for you, only you, He would have still gone and died on that cross.
He would take all the lashings for us, even if it was just a single sin.
He decided that we are worth His life.
There are not enough words to describe what He did for every life on this planet. His life was given for us. Since He gave His life I don’t see a way that we can have our true identity in any place other than in Him.
His life is how I am defined. I’m to live my life according to how He lived His, because God gave up His Son’s life for me.
As Christians, we give up our lives for Him, that is how we have our identity in Him. When we choose to proclaim Him and follow Him with a passion that can only come from the Holy Spirit, we prove that we are in Him. We want Him so much that we give up what the world has for Him and Him alone.
He shaped us and formed us to be who we are today. When we seek Him, we have found our identity in the only One who can define us. He knows who we are and we are who we are because of Him.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for another week of living. Thank You for a brand new month to enjoy. Thank You for giving the ability to read and write. It is amazing that You gave us words, that we can write and read them because of You, Lord.
Lord, please bless us this week. Help us to grow our relationship with You, Lord. Please help us to be productive this week and please protect us.
Thank You for all You do. In Your name, Amen.
