Tired of the Negativity

Right now you are probably submerged in the negative media, whether by the news or social media. It is so consuming, that once you get started you end up on a downward spiral of hopelessness.
Since the media is so sad an upsetting, I have limited myself to only following people who have a positive outlook. That means if one of my friends is looking at life in a negative way, I'm not following them. I am wholeheartedly giving up anything that will start a downward spiral, including music, books, news, conversations, etc.
The hardest one for me has been getting rid of negative conversations, whether via text, video chat, or in person. I keep remembering what I consider to be the 'good times', but what I need to focus on is making right now the good times. I want right now to be the time of my life.
Instead of letting myself be sucked into all this sadness and anger, I want to only focus on the good things. For me the best thing is the fact that I have gotten to read the Bible and started a 30 day challenge to read the whole Bible in 3o days. I would have never had the time to do this challenge without having to stay at home for all this time. Another great thing is that I will, probably, get to treat my birthday like a summer birthday. Usually I'm at school or cleaning on my birthday, so it'll be a nice change to not be celebrating my birthday during the chaotic month of April.
There are plenty of good things coming out of this extra time at home, so let's enjoy it and utilize it for the better instead of focusing on what we don't have. Let's not be jealous of when we didn't have to spend most, or all, our time at home; let's be joyful that we don't have to do certain things and that we now have the time for so much more.
I don't think this virus could have come at a better point in time, because typically April and May are some of the busiest months for anyone in school and for those at work it gives them an early summer. Just think, most days you wouldn't have the joy of getting to sleep in or the fact that you now don't really have to go through a whole routine of making yourself look as professional as possible.
I actually kind of like that this virus happened, because now we must slow down, now we have to take time to do refresh ourselves. Society is way too busy, but now we can't be. Now more people are looking to God for hope and it's such an amazing thing that more people want to seek Him.
I no longer have to wait until the weekend to be able to write, so I can blog more often. I love how open my schedule has become. I love that I can actually have my knee recover from surgery because I can now do the exercises more often and with more effort. How awesome is God to have blessed us with a time to refresh and renew ourselves!
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for this extra time to be spending in Your word and building relationships. Thank You for being able to spend more time doing things that I normally wouldn't have time for. Thank You for blessing us with time to refresh and the ability to be able to go back to work later on, with fresh eyes on the problems we were facing. Lord, You chose this time to take away a lot of what we can do, but You have also opened new windows of opportunity. Thank You for what will unfold, we have no clue what we will face, but you do and for that, we are grateful. Help us to use this time as You would want us to. You know when this will end, but in the meantime help us get through this with Your joy inside us. Help us face this battle with the hope of the Lord. In Your precious name, Amen.
